Teach your Dog to Pee and Poop at an Appropriate Place

One of the major issues, which concern all the pet-owners, is to teach their pets to pee and poop at the right place. Failing to do so may result in public embarrassment to the owner. Additionally, it will also result in spoiling the furniture and furnishings of your house, and fill it with stinking odour of your pet's wrongdoing.

In order to avoid such situation, the responsibility lays with you to toilet train your pet successfully. To restrict your pet from urinating or defecating inside the house, you may take your dog for frequent outdoor walks. During such outings, you must encourage your pet to eliminate the wastes from his body. Typically, a dog will relieve himself early morning, after food intake, after exercise and before sleeping. Hence, it is advisable to schedule your walks accordingly, to correspond with the nature calls of your pet.

Additionally, during the training period you will have to keep a close eye on your pet. Usually, when a dog wants to pee or poop, he will become restless, go around in circles, and start sniffing the ground. As soon as your dog displays such behaviour, take him out to an appropriate place where he can do his chore.

Often a dog may experience submissive urinating when excited. For instance, your dog may pee in excitement as he sees you returning from outside. Or he may urinate when you scold him or are upset with him. Never penalise your pet for such social anxiety. You need to remember that punishing will only make your pet more emotional, thus aggravating the problem further.

The best way to overcome such submissive urination among dogs is to communicate with them. As their master, you need to build a good rapport with them, and get your pet to trust you. Once you acquire the trust of your pet dog, the dog will become less eager and anxious on seeing you. A feeling of familiarity will develop, thus resulting in the gradual disappearance of social nervousness in your dog.

Potty training your pet can be a tough task. But, it can be made simple by following four simple tips- Confine your pet to a restricted place; be determined to potty train your pet successfully; repeat all the things that needs to be taught to your pet dog; and praise your pet, when he does the things correctly.

Last but certainly not the least, give time and be patient as your dog learns the right ways and place to eliminate the wastes from his body!
